«Quando si vive non accade nulla. Le scene cambiano, le persone entrano ed escono, ecco tutto. Non vi è mai un inizio. I giorni si aggiungono ai giorni, senza capo né coda, è un’addizione interminabile e monotona. […] Vivere è questo. Ma quando si racconta la vita, tutto cambia.» scrisse Jean-Paul Sartre in La nausea, 1938.

Negli ultimi anni la ricerca personale di Federica Sasso ha toccato diversi temi, dall’adolescenza ai disturbi alimentari, dal rapporto tra social media e la cosiddetta Generazione Z, alla partecipazione ad un gruppo, al riconoscersi come parte di una comunità.

Il suo lavoro #PostAdolescence tratta il rapporto tra le nuove generazioni e lo spazio circostante, fisico e virtuale appunto. Lo scrittore Giacomo Papi, sottolinea come «La maniera più semplice per immaginare la percezione del mondo che ha una generazione è confrontarla con le aspettative e le delusioni di quest’ultima. Chi è nato nel 1968, per esempio, a un anno ha visto lo sbarco sulla luna, a otto cantava gli Oliver Onions (a 16 i Duran Duran o i The Clash, a seconda dei gusti).

I nati nel 2000 a un anno si sono beccati l’11 settembre e a otto, dopo due guerre e molti attentati, una crisi economica da cui, quasi dieci anni dopo, non sono ancora usciti.» La cosiddetta Google Generation infatti, i nati tra il 1995 e il 2000, per via di un completo accesso a tecnologia informatica, Internet e social media, hanno visto crollare le pareti tra il mondo digitale e quello fisico mentre sperimentano ora le più diverse sfumature di precariato, call center, automazione del lavoro, cambiamento climatico, immigrazione e così via. Disorientati, stanno sviluppando nuove forme di resistenza. #Post-Adolescence documenta il loro viaggio verso la vita adulta.

Over the last few years the artistic research of photographer Federica Sasso has been attracted by a large range of different topics like youth, issues related to teens and young adults, the relationship between social media and the Generation Z, eating disorders and the study of how the youngest generations interpretate the concept of “community” and “group”. Her project #PostAdolescence explores the relationship between the new generations and the landscape surrounding them, in both its physical and virtual touch. Writer Giacomo Papi underlines how «The easiest way to image how a given generation perceives the world is by comparing it with the expectations and disappointments experienced by the generation who brought them into the world and raised them. Those who were born in 1968 had seen the moon landing at age 1, they sang the Oliver Onions aged 8 (and Duran Duran or The Clash at 16 depending on tastes), Those who were born in 2000 were hit by 9/11 aged 1 and, by age 8, they had gone through two wars, multiple terror attacks and a financial crisis which, nearly ten years on, still has them firmly in its grips».
The so-called Google Generation, those who were born between 1995 and 2000, thanks to a full access to modern technology, Internet and social media they saw the walls between the digital and physical world fall down. They are now experiencing insecurity, call centers, full automation, climate change, migration and so on. Disoriented, they are developing innovative forms of resilience. #PostAdolescence documents their journey to the adult life.
